This article connects to Bigger because like Bigger, Charlie Samuel was accused of kidnapping and killing a white girl. Like Mary, the teens body was found in a car. Mary's body was not found but her bone was found and therefore that is how they found out that they got killed. Before that killing they were both caught for other crimes and that is how they were both more found guilty because of their criminal record. Bigger relates to him a lot because he gets blamed because of his criminal record and also they both got blamed for kidnapping and killing a white teen.

Blog #3
1. I think the ending of book 2 was not as interesting as I had expected it to be. I had expected it to be more interesting, like when they found him I thought his friends were going to turn him in or they will catch him in action while he is trying to hide. I think he should have thought more about his hiding place.
2. "Could he get to the roof of this building? If so, maybe he could crouch there until they passed." (240) I believe this is a poignant moment because he probably regrets going on the roof at the end of book 2. Also it is a sad moment because that idea made him get caught and now he is probably going to die because he did not have a good hiding place.
3. I believe that the first book is called "Fear" because that is when he does the killing and he is afraid of getting caught and telling the truth. The second book is called "Flight" because that is when he is trying to run away from the police so it is like he is taking a "flight" to somewhere. Finally, the third book is called "Fate" because he has fate in the people not killing him and letting him go.

At War: Bigger's Id, Ego, and Superego Compete
Bigger's ego was in control when he was thinking about what he should have done. "..he would plan and arrange so that he would have money enough to keep him a long time."(123).His ego was that he wanted more money. He wanted more money so he could run away and not get caught. Also when wright says "He had to be careful with his answer now." (121). he is showing Bigger's ego because he has to think of what is he going to say to Mrs. Dalton so they will believe him. He had to remember everything he said because if they asked him the question again he will have to remember what he had said so they will not catch him.
Bigger's superego is making him worse because his conscience is killing him. He had to think of how to lie and make sure he was doing good in his lies. He did not want to get caught because he did not want to loose his job and he did not want to go to jail and get the electric chair or just get killed for something he did not mean to do. His superego is getting to him because he is starting to believe that he killed Mary because he wanted to and he planned it when he really did not mean to and did not plan it.
Bigger's id is that he is thinking that he did the killing and did not do it accident.

Native Son (Mary's Killing) Thoughts
The killing that Bigger did was very unexpected. I wouldn't have thought of him to do what he did with the body. I asked myself why he burned her body and cut off her head and why he didn't do anything else or just dump it somewhere. It was nasty how the cutting of the head was described. The only reason why he killed her was just because he didn't want to be noticed by Mrs. Dalton and I think I would've preferred getting noticed than killing someone. If he would have just gotten caught he would've had a story to explain and that it was Mary's fault and he won't be in so much trouble. Now because he killed her he will be in more trouble and might get killed for it. Also, I think it is all Mary's fault she died because she's hiding things from her parents anyways and doing things she wasn't supposed to.
